Law Enforcement Housing

Eric Snow believes that having patrol deputies who live within Teton County is essential to the Sheriff’s Office readiness and effectiveness, particularly during critical incidents. While the county’s existing Affordable Housing program has made important progress, Snow supports the development of a targeted initiative to help attract and retain deputies who reside locally.

The benefits of deputies living in the community they serve are significant. First, it dramatically improves response times and overall readiness in the event of high-profile or time-sensitive incidents, such as an active shooter situation or terrorist attack. Second, it strengthens community policing by fostering deeper relationships between deputies and residents, building greater public trust and cooperation.

As a current patrol deputy who lives in Teton County, Snow regularly interacts with community members outside of official duties – at the grocery store and other everyday settings. These positive interactions stem directly from consistent, fair enforcement and strong community ties.

Snow supports a practical path forward: developing affordable housing options specifically designed for law enforcement professionals and their families. With focused effort and partnership between the Sheriff’s Office, county officials, and local stakeholders, Teton County can create housing solutions that help deputies put down roots in the community they protect.

By ensuring more deputies live where they work, the Sheriff’s Office will deliver faster, more effective public safety while reinforcing the neighborly values that define Teton County.
