Eric Snow supports legal immigration, fair enforcement, and a clear distinction between those who follow the lawful process and those who do not.
Eric’s wife is a legal immigrant from Australia. The couple met in 2015 while both travelling abroad, and married in 2017 when she moved to the United States. The immigration process was expensive, difficult, and time-consuming. Having personally navigated that system and invested significant time and resources, Snow strongly supports legal immigration and believes anyone who wishes to come to the United States should follow the lawful process.
Illegal immigration continues to dominate national, state, and local discussions. In response, Wyoming has enacted strong measures to uphold the rule of law. Key statutes include:
- W.S. § 31-7-143 (2025) – Invalidates any driver’s license in Wyoming if issued to an individual who entered the country illegally.
- W.S. § 31-18-608 (2026) – Authorizes law enforcement to conduct roadside English proficiency tests for commercial vehicle operators. Officers may cite drivers who cannot demonstrate the ability to read and understand highway signs, communicate effectively, or meet federal proficiency standards under 49 C.F.R. § 391.11(b)(2).
These laws are critical for public safety. Clear English communication is essential for commercial drivers operating large vehicles on Teton Pass, where they must quickly understand road closures, weight limits, and emergency instructions.
As Sheriff, Snow will enforce all laws as written – without political bias or selective enforcement. The role of law enforcement is to uphold statutes passed by the Wyoming Legislature and signed by the Governor, not to choose which ones to follow.
America is a nation built by immigrants, but we must remain a nation of laws. Wyoming will continue to protect its sovereignty, prioritize legal immigration, and ensure that those who follow the rules are not disadvantaged by those who do not.
